Country superstar Jason Blaine has joined the 100 Women Campaign to help bring $30,000 to Renfrew County. The campaign, a Pembroke Petawawa District Community Foundation program, is an initiative where 100 women each donated $100 for women's causes.

TWO RENFREW RESIDENTS KILLED IN COLLISION ON MARCH ROAD

The two people killed in last night's (dec4) collision in Carp have been identified as two Renfrew residents. According to the Ottawa Police, 69 year old Douglas Foster and 66 year old Joan Foster were succumbed to their injuries after a collision on March Road.

Renfrew County Warden Peter Emon is in his last full week in the job of Renfrew County's top politician. Peter Emon chose not to run for a fifth term as warden and is instead going to pass the chain of office to Bonnechere Valley Mayor Jen Murphy.

DROP IN LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

Good news for the local economy. The unemployment rate for this area, which stretches from Pembroke to Kingston is sitting at 4.9 percent. Which is a better statistic than we saw in October, when the rate was at 5.7.

PACKERS FALL SHORT TO AEROS

The Arnprior Packers managed to go 2-7 on the power play but they still came up short, losing 5-4 to the Athens Aeros last night. Bailey Hein and Calvin Wheatley provided the only offence and goalie Anthony Salahor turned aside 27 shots in the loss.

The fourth and final weekend of the 32nd annual Terry O'Neill Silver Stick Tournament in Pembroke wrapped up yesterday. The Northumberland Nighthawks were crowned the Midget AA champs after a nail biting 1-0 win at PEM Ice Two against the Kanata Blazers.
