This past holiday weekend was the perfect opportunity to get the convertible out, put down the top, and cruise the Ottawa Valley. However, one man overdid it and will be short his Audi convertible and his International Driver's License for a week.

MORE HOMES PLANNED FOR BRAESIDE AREA

A subdivision consisting of 41 lots is being proposed for a 90 hectre piece of land off the River Road between Braeside and Sand Point. Thomas Cavanaugh Construction wants to develop 25 per cent of the property into one acre lots with access off the River Road.

No decisions Tuesday night on the Miller quarry and asphalt plant applications. The township has received more information and needs time to digest the input as well as a report from the Planner. They also would like input from MNR and MOE on a number of issues.

CN RAIL CONTINUES TO TEAR UP TRACKS IN BEACHBURG

CN Rail crews will be ripping out more tracks this morning. They will be taking out the rails at Powers Road in Beachburg. That starts at 10 o'clock. Crews will be blocking the road at times so expect some delays if you need to take that stretch of road.

VICTORIA LONG WEEKEND RESULTS IN NUMEROUS DRIVING CHARGES ACROSS THE PROVINCE AND TWO DEATHS

Unfortunately it was a busy long weekend for the OPP. In total officers laid 8 289 speeding charges, 330 distracted driving charges, 112 alcohol and drug impaired driving charges and 826 seat belt charges across the province. In addition there were two fatalities.

OTTAWA OPP BUSY WITH DRIVING VIOLATIONS OVER LONG WEEKEND

It was a busy long weekend for Ottawa OPP highway enforcement officers. They caught two impaired drivers, had two others in the warn range, charged three people with careless driving and another with stunt driving.

GREATER MADAWASKA WANTS TO CONTRACT OUT JANITOR SERVICES

Not all councillors on Greater Madawaska Council are entirely comfortable with the idea of spending $43,275 a year for a contract custodian to clean selected township buildings. However, they are moving ahead with the plan which is based on a rate of $25 an hour.

REPAIR WORK SLATED FOR WHITE LAKE'S WABA COTTAGE MUSEUM

Some repairs are planned at McNab-Braeside?s Waba Cottage Museum at White Lake. Cedar shingles will be installed on the church roof at a cost of almost $6 400. In addition the steeple needs repair and restoration and the work will be included in the roof work.

FIRST WOLVES' DEN A SUCCESS

The area's first Wolves' Den, which took place Friday at the O'Brien Theatre in Renfrew, was a success. Conner Schriver. who was the under 18 winner, incidently had dropped Business to take Art in school. Now it would seem he's incorporating both.
